MARC SHAPIRO

Marc J. Shapiro is a prominent executive and board member based in Houston, Texas. He has had a distinguished career in banking, beginning with Texas Commerce Bank, where he became Chief Financial Officer in 1977 at the age of 29. Following the bank's acquisition by J.P. Morgan Chase in 1989, Marc advanced to Chief Executive Officer for Texas operations and later served in New York as Vice Chairman for Finance and Risk Management of the parent company. In 2003, he returned to Houston as Non-Executive Chairman of Chase Bank of Texas for 10 years.  Marc was a founding director of Cadence bank and served on its Board of Directors from 2010 – 2025.

Marc is also deeply committed to community service, having held leadership roles with the Houston United Way Campaign, the Greater Houston Partnership, the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and the Baker Institute at Rice University. His focus on healthcare is evident through his involvement with the Texas Medical Center, where he has served as Chair at different times of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Hospital. Marc holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford and is recognized for his strategic leadership and dedication to ethical governance.
