With a career spanning over 30 years, Holmes has been instrumental in major corporate milestones, including the highly successful merger between Cadence Bank and BancorpSouth. He played a key role in strategic decisions that significantly influenced the banks’ structures and policies, ultimately increasing Cadence Bank’s value to $2.9 billion for its shareholders.
As Chief Banking Officer and President, Holmes co-led Cadence Bank's initial public offering in 2017, which raised $173 million, followed by three subsequent offerings that amassed a total of $1.2 billion. His adeptness in crisis management was pivotal in stabilizing corporate loan portfolios during economically turbulent times, implementing strategic shifts in lending practices that resulted in growth rates surpassing industry averages.
During his tenure at Amegy Bank, Holmes demonstrated exceptional skill in handling complex financial situations, such as resolving $2.5 billion in troubled loans during the Great Recession. He also successfully rebuilt Amegy’s Private Banking division following the 9/11 crisis, substantially growing the department and ensuring stringent compliance with new regulatory standards.
